Hi, my name is Lara, and I'm an addict.

Only my addiction isn’t alcohol – I barely drink at all! And it’s not drugs unless you count having a favourite painkiller as a drug addiction. (It’s the green Disprins by the way). No, my addiction is board games.

It started back in 2013, when Mr Geekess and I stumbled into Outer Limits in Johannesburg, and decided to invest in two games for our friend group. One was Arkham Horror – a firm favourite to this day, but probably not the best choice for someone dipping their toes into the board gaming waters. The other (which sees the table far less often these days) was Pirate’s Cove.

From there, our collection developed. From 25 games in our first year, we’ve amassed hundreds of board games in the past decade, and just about all of them have a special place in our hearts. (Except the ones we’re still to open, of course.)

But there’s something else you should know about me. I love to write, and I’m a content writer by day, a gamer by night and over weekends. Back when we started our gaming journey, I decided to write up my thoughts on the games we played. Over the years, this has fallen by the wayside, but we’re here to pick things back up again!

And that brings me to my other half. Mr Geekess loves board games as much as (if not more than) I do. Together, we’re taking on as many games as we can handle, and you’ll hear what both of us think.

So what can you expect? Now that I’ve explained how I came to find board games, I can tell you that this blog is going to feature reviews of some of the games that I’ve owned and played, instructions (and suggestions) on how to play some of them and lots and lots of photos (did I mention that I was a photographer too?)  With a deep love for gaming, the two of us are setting out to play, review and, preferably, own as many board games as we possibly can.

We hope you're looking forward to it as much as we are!
